AquaWiz CRA Calcium Reactor Controller

AquaWiz CRA™, Calcium Reactor Controller AquaWiz, is an innovative equipment to control water flow and CO2 inlet of calcium reactor,It makes calcium reactor  easily to be operated, and controlled remotely through the internet.

Why using Calcium Reactor

Corals in your tank consume KH/Ca/Mg to build their skeletons. In general, a calcium reactor melts media by CO2 input to produce and maintain the perfect ratio of KH/Ca/Mg, which is less dependent on the ratio of Ca/Mg media. The media usually lasts a long time before the need to add them. If using a conventional Dosing Pump system, you need a lot of time to prepare, measure, and adjust KH/Ca/Mg concentrations for each solution. The unbalance of ions becomes an issue for a long run. If using a Calcium Reactor with proper media, KH/Ca/Mg ratio can be maintained perfectly without ion-unbalanced issues.

Difficulties of using Calcium Reactor:

  1. It is difficult to maintain constant CO2 bubbling and water flow rate, which drift day to day, and need to watch and adjust them daily to weekly.  if the water outlet is in the dropping mode, the water path is easily blocked.
  2. It is difficult to follow the change of KH/Ca/Mg demand due to the growth of coral, or due to poor environments, like nutrition depletion or lightning failure, and result in low KH or high KH.
  3. From observation, KH/Ca/Mg demand of coral changes hour to hour. It consumes less KH/Ca/Mg after lightning-off, and more when lightning-on, and reaches peak after several hours of light-on. Conventional constant supply mode of the calcium reactor’s operation fails to follow this trend and results in very unstable KH, especially for high demand tanks.
  4. Not friendly for a new hand to understand the know-how and adjustment.

AquaWiz CRA Calcium Reactor Controller make it easier:

  1. AquaWiz CRA is capable of setting CO2 bubbling amounts for every hour. With input of KH readings measured from an AquaWiz KH controller (KHA), the supply of KH from a calcium reactor can be maintained and adjusted automatically to a preset KH target.
  2.  Automatic water outlet control to maintain stable KH.
  3. From results of install bases, KH ranges can be stabilized within 0.2 ~ 0.6 dKH.
  4. Website to monitor/adjust operation of CRA when going outside.
  5. The checklist below is required for operation (1) block of water path (2) backstream of water into CRA CO2 out port (3) CO2 canister pressure (4) amount of Ca/Mg media.

Advanced operation of AquaWiz CRA:

  1. From the weekly chart, if CO2 output decreases from day to day, then something is wrong and results in decreased consumption of KH. It might be lightning intensity, nutrition problem, or an infection. Actions can be taken as soon as possible to prevent serious issues.
  2. What is the best duration for water change? Please check the trend of CO2 output. If trend up obviously after water change, then shortening the duration of water change is recommended. This method could be applied to nutrition/elements supply, lightning intensity/duration, or new equipment.

Functions:

  1. Water flow control: Non-metal valve to control opening. Daily fully opening to flush flow path. Two flow modes for small and large KH demand. Valve keeps opening pre-setting after power off.
  2. CO2 output control: set 24 hours’ CO2 bubbling count with ~30cc per bubble.
  3. Auto tuning: adjust the CO2 output automatically with the KH demand.
  4. AquaWiz KH Controller (KHA) transmits KH reading to CRA wirelessly for auto tuning function. If no KHA available, no auto tuning function.
  5. PH monitoring (optional): More CO2 bubbling count, then more KH/Ca/Mg produced. PH reading in CaRx is not required. If a PH probe is installed, then PH reading can be monitored on the website.

Installtion:

LCD Display:

0.51: KH difference between reading and target value, which was sent from KHA wirelessly.

5.51: PH value inside calcium reactor if there is a PH probe installed and BNC cable plug-in CRA.

M1A2:  Control mode 1 and step A2

015/017/010: 015: current CO2 bubble count. 017: calculated CO2 bubble count needed in this hour. 010: presetted CO2 bubble count of this hour.

20:15: current time, the clock is automatically synchronized with internet time.
